Citizen decided to build a series of diving watches in response to the success of the Parawater. With the release of the diving watch, the firm began to see success after success.

Citizen invented the unique Eco-Drive technology in addition to being an early innovator in the quartz movement market. Citizen watches have a long history. Eco-Drive is well-known in the watch industry since it was one of the first solar-charging movements. Since its founding in 1976, the company has been a pioneer in eco-friendly products.
